Engine of Growth:
Unveiling South Miami-Dade’s Manufacturing Sector
While Florida has long been recognized for its diverse industries, manufacturing has emerged as a silent powerhouse, eclipsing traditional sectors like tourism and agriculture in economic contribution. From 2014 to 2022, Florida’s manufacturing output surged from $43.5 billion to $73 billion, marking a staggering 67.8% growth rate over nine years, outpacing leading manufacturing states. Employment in the sector soared to 422,800 by September 2023, propelling Florida into the nation’s top ten for manufacturing employment, with a notable 23.3% increase since 2014. This growth presents significant manufacturing business opportunities for investors and entrepreneurs looking to capitalize on Florida’s thriving manufacturing sector.
As part of Florida’s ambitious blueprint for success, the Florida Chamber Foundation has set a bold target of ranking among the top five states for manufacturing employment by 2030.
With Foreign Trade Zone No. 166, the Southernmost free trade zone in the U.S., major road and rail options, the Miami International commercial airport, and two deepwater seaports (Port of Miami and Port Everglades), South Miami-Dade is poised to play a pivotal role in this transformative journey.
